Canyon Ranch at Park Crest

Canyon Ranch, the resort and spa hotel, was interested in locating a new facility in the metropolitan Washington area. The project included a 200 room hotel, 180,000 sf spa facility, Canyon Ranch Condominiums, and 1300 additional condominium units. Additional space is required for outdoor activities.

The developer solicited Michael Winstanley Architects Planners to develop a series of planning and landscape concepts illustrating the possibilities for Canyon Ranch to locate their new facility at Park Place in Tysons Corner, Virginia. Our design solution produced three options illustrating the potential concepts for Canyon Ranch. Each option organized the building massing to support the landscape notion. The three landscape options included a naturalist setting, a formal garden setting, and a meditative environment. Each option explored the relationship between the outdoor programs included passive recreation, meditation, and teaching. The site sloped over 100 feet that allowed each design to capitalize on this site attribute by creating a dramatic landscape with water flowing and views enhanced.
